Fragrance story: The sensuous freshness of just-ripe pears is wrapped in a bouquet of white freesias and mellowed by amber, patchouli and woods. King William pear opens the scent. An unusual, innovative ingredient, this accord of mellow scented fruit is fresh and ripe with a juicy facet. Freesia defines the heart. Quintessentially English, cool white freesias imbue the heart of the fragrance with a delicate yet distinctive scent. Patchouli grounds the scent. Patchouli is a sensuously deep, woody note that enhances the longevity of the fragrance.

Beautiful Fragrance
This is such a beautiful scent! I pondered several of the Jo Malone fragrances before choosing this one. I've had problems with perfumes in the past due to allergies and headaches but after reading such good reviews on all her products where most described them as fresh and light and not causing allergic reactions, I decided to give this a try. I'm thrilled with it! Having to order online because there is no Nordstrom store in my state, I could only go by how it was described...surprising, sensuous freshness. I think that sums it up well. I'll add to that elegant but subtle, very feminine and while I personally can't detect the actual scent of pear, there is something about it that reminds me of an orchard. I put it on around noon when it arrived and can still smell it around 5PM as I write this. To me, that's long lasting since most of the fragrance sprays I am able to use like Philosophy only last a couple of hours. I've been sniffing my arm all afternoon because I'm so taken with this scent.

Not happy
About 1 year ago I purchased Joe Malone from on line Nordstrom. I could not be happier! Every time I wore the lotion and the spray cologne someone remarked about how good I smelled. Even up to the end of the bottles the smell was substansual. Naturally after almost 1 year the smell was not as strong, however it was still effective. The new order just came and I used it once. Not one person remarked and I noticed that the smell when I applied the lotion and cologne I noticed that it was not as potent. I think this order was old. Maybe on the shelf for a while. I will be returning my order to the store. I am not happy with this purchase.

Smells strongly of rose
I must start by saying I LOVE Jo Malone products and purchase them frequently. I was looking for the honeysuckle jasmine scent which has sadly been discontinued, so I ordered this one instead without smelling or testing it because I really like the scent of Freesia and Pear. It also had excellent reviews. What I found is that it has a strong scent of rose, and I am not a fan of rose perfume at all. I thought people should know that up front. If you like rose scented perfumes, you might love it! It just wasn't for me.

Try mixing this scent with the nectarine blossom and honey one- I get so many compliments on these two when paired!

Transported
Much has been said about the effect of fragrances; Jo Malone's cologne of English pear & Freesia transports me from the ritual of everyday to a peaceful place of gentle joys, a deep feeling of well-being and light. It lingers on the entire day - not obtrusively - but sends little reminders of beauty in simplicity.
