Bonfire Cable Knit Cardigan

This runs true to size. I typically buy an xs from free people in anything oversized looking and still have an oversized look. For size reference, I'm 5'4, 128 lbs, 34c. In between a size 2-4. I ordered a small and it fits fine, works well for me, but I think I would have preferred going up to a medium. I don't care for the cardigan buttoned all the way up, it looks too bulky. Something about the thick fabric in the shoulder area is throwing me off, makes me feel boxy/linebacker built. The sleeves at the wrist/forearm is too snug for my liking compared to the relaxed fit in the upper arms. I needed to finesse the fabric to make it more comfortable and relaxed. Top 2 bottoms unbuttoned or completely unbuttoned with a cropped tank/Cami looks best in my opinion. It's very thick and has some weight. Will snag easily. My cream one arrived with a snag in it. I feel like the forest and beaver run smaller than the cream. Also cream felt the softest/less stiff. Black forest color is gorgeous, and my favorite. A richer, deeper emerald green than stock photo. Beaver color wasn't even on my radar in the sale preview but once I saw it on influencers, the color seemed more muted in person and I preferred that. So Beaver color is not as rich as the stock photo. Cream was my least favorite. It pulls more white, would have preferred a warmer cream. I would like to try Stone next. Overall, if your size is sold out, I recommend trying one size up. I'm my opinion, this cardigan looks best sized up and oversized. True to size makes it look bulky/stocky on the body.

Sizing is surprising on this. Normally in free people I size down but my store didn’t have my size (s) or a size down so I tried a medium just for context and to see how the green color worked with my skin tone and was shocked when it actually fit. I even tried a large to see if I could give it more of a slouchy and oversized fit and a large worked also but was a little long in the sleeves but still good in the body. After much debating I grabbed the medium. Cannot wait to wear it!

I am normally a large but purchased this in XL (rare that I have to go up a size in Free People). I saw it in a Nordstrom store during the anniversary sale but only had smaller sizes. Put it on my wish list, and it became available. This green is fabulous! Wonderful cable knit construction. Heavy enough, long sleeves that I love, and will look good unbuttoned and buttoned. Thinking about whether I need more, but I also have the FP oversized easy sweater in Heart Eyes red sooo....maybe I'm good for this winter. 🤪

This is the sweater I have been wanting! I love that it is all cotton, so it isn’t itchy at all. The weave has very cozy, European vibe and the cropped length works flawlessly with high waisted Levi’s. I wanted it to be very long sleeved and roomy so I went with a small (xs would have been more true to size) and it is still cropped enough but doesn’t expose my midriff constantly. 5’3” 110.

This sweater was cute and the material was thick and good quality, but the construction was terrible. As soon as I put it on, it unraveled at the seam of the sleeve, and kept unraveling throughout the day. I thought about salvaging it and to stitch it up myself, but for the price, I shouldn’t have to. I ended up returning the sweater.

Thought this would be my favorite but just not loving it, seems awkward... the boxy short fit, the tapered arms. I feel more like a football player mixed with a frumpy librarian. Not exactly the vibe I was going for! Tried sizing up to get a different look but the way the arms are fitted at the bottom I just got a bunch of excess sleeve material bunching up... so I'll call it true to size.
